General
What is Fenix?

Fenix is the new art museum about migration. It is located in a historic harbour warehouse on the Rotterdam quays of departure and arrival. Fenix gives space to countless migration stories: about love and farewell, about coming home and feeling at home. Stories from the past and the present, told by more than a hundred artists from all directions. Explore a maze of suitcases that tell stories, documentary photography that takes you on a journey, kitchens that have travelled the world, and a freely accessible square. Read more about Fenix here.

Where is Fenix, and how do I get there?

The museum is at Paul Nijghkade 5, Rotterdam. Fenix is easily reachable by public transport, water taxi, bike, shared scooter, or car. Read all about routes and accessibility here.

What are the opening hours?

You can find the opening hours for the museum, horeca, Plein, and shop here.

How much time should I allow for a visit?

A visit to the museum and the Tornado usually takes around 90 minutes. You are also welcome to spend time in the horeca or on Plein, so you can easily stay longer. You set your own pace and route.

Are there guided tours or audio tours?

Yes, we offer interactive guided tours through the museum for groups of 9 to 15 people.

In the Suitcase Labyrinth, we offer listening devices that let you listen to the personal stories behind the suitcases.

Ticketing
What can I visit with and without a ticket?

A ticket gives you access to the Tornado, the exhibitions, and the Espresso Bar. Without a ticket, you are welcome at O Anatolian Café & Bakery, the Fenix Shop, and Plein, the covered city square.

Where can I buy tickets, and how much do they cost?

Tickets can be purchased online via our website, where you’ll also find all ticket prices. All tickets have a start time; even with a discount card, you must reserve a time slot in advance. If online booking isn’t possible, our welcome desk is happy to help. Buy tickets here.

Which discount cards are accepted?

Currently, the Rotterdampas, and the ICOM card are accepted. You must reserve a time slot online in advance with these cards as well. The Museumkaart and VriendenLoterij VIP card are not valid at Fenix at this time. We will announce any changes via our website and newsletter. More info.

Can I change or cancel my ticket?

You can reschedule your ticket up to 24 hours before your visit. Cancellation is only possible for the entire order at once. Individual tickets within a group order cannot be cancelled. Contact Ticket Support for changes.

I paid but haven’t received my ticket.

Sometimes tickets end up in the spam folder. If you can’t find it there, contact Ticket Support.

Food & Drink
What horeca options are there at Fenix?

There are several places to eat or drink. Upon entering the museum, you’ll find O Anatolian Café. On the first floor is the Espresso Bar, exclusively accessible to museum ticket holders. At Plein, a different chef cooks in Mooncake’s Lunch Pop-up. On the building’s exterior, there is O Anatolian Bakery, and in summer, Granucci Gelato opens at the corner.

Do I need to make a reservation?

We operate without reservations. There is usually a table available quickly, even at busy times.

Can I bring my own food or drink?

You may bring your own food and drink to Plein. However, large personal catering or setting tables for birthdays, anniversaries, or company lunches is not allowed. Food and drink are not permitted in the museum, exhibitions, or Tornado, except for a small bottle of water.

Can I hire a space for a party?

It is not possible to hire spaces for private events. You are welcome to visit the museum with your group and enjoy the horeca.

Tornado
What is the mirrored artwork on the roof?

That is the Tornado: an artwork, staircase, and viewpoint in one. A wooden and stainless-steel staircase leads to a platform with panoramic views of Rotterdam.

A ticket gives you access to the Tornado, exhibitions, and the Espresso Bar. Find out why it is called the Tornado, who the architect is, and how it was built here.

Can I visit only the Tornado?

The Tornado is part of the museum. Tickets include access to the Tornado, exhibitions, and the Espresso Bar. There are no separate tickets for the viewpoint only.

Is the Tornado open in bad weather?

During normal rain showers, the Tornado remains open. It closes only in cases of heavy rain, strong wind, storm, snow, ice, or lightning for safety reasons.

Plein
What is Plein?

Plein is a covered city square with extras: toilets, wifi, and a kiosk with international newspapers and games. You may eat your own lunch or snack here or get something from the horeca.

Regular activities are organized on Plein. View the calendar here.

Can I skate or cycle on Plein?
