About Fenix

Fenix is the new art museum about migration in Rotterdam. Artists, photographers, chefs, and other creative makers tell stories here that transcend borders. About love and farewell, coming home and feeling at home, identity and the search for happiness. At this historic place of departure and arrival, where millions of Europeans once left and people from all over the world arrived, we show that migration is timeless and personal.

Since its opening in May 2025, Fenix has welcomed nearly 400,000 visitors from 105 countries, who rate the museum an average of 9. In 2026, Fenix builds on the success of the opening year. The focus is on audience growth, anchoring program lines, and strengthening the organization as a foundation for the coming years.

About the Marketing and Communications team

The Marketing and Communications team strengthens the Fenix story. We develop content, campaigns, and formats that inform and engage our audience. In this way, we translate interest into engagement and visits.

In everything we do, we keep the visitor experience in mind: from the first introduction to the visit to the museum and a potential return visit. In doing so, we maintain Fenix's tone of voice across all channels: from social media and the website to newsletters and campaigns.

Your role in the team

You are the connecting link in the execution of campaigns and publicity. You support the development and execution of Fenix's marketing and communication activities and ensure that plans developed by colleagues are well organized and realized. In doing so, you monitor the structure, planning, and progress, ensuring that different parts of the team come together at the right time.

You work closely with the Head of Marketing and Communications, who is responsible for the strategic direction and major public campaigns, and with the Senior PR Manager, who maintains media relations and leads the publicity strategy. Together with colleagues within the Marketing and Communications team, you ensure effective execution, while everyone remains responsible for their own expertise.

What are you going to do?

Campaign production

  • Organizing and coordinating the planning and execution of public campaigns;
  • Monitoring deadlines and alignment between content, PR, and data;
  • Liaising with external agencies and suppliers regarding planning and production;
  • Organizing campaign communications and activations;
  • Identifying bottlenecks in planning or progress.

PR support

  • Supporting the Senior PR Manager with press activities;
  • Preparing and distributing press materials;
  • Managing and updating press lists;
  • Coordinating media requests and managing press events;
  • Monitoring and tracking media attention.

Who are you?

  • You work in a structured and accurate manner and maintain an overview, even with multiple projects simultaneously;
  • You get energy from planning, organizing, and realizing campaigns and activities;
  • You monitor deadlines and progress and ensure that agreements are met;
  • You liaise easily with colleagues and external partners and ensure clear coordination;
  • You are practical, proactive, and take on tasks independently;
  • You have an eye for detail and do not lose sight of the bigger picture;
  • You feel comfortable in a supportive and coordinating role within a team of specialists;
  • You handle changing circumstances flexibly in a developing organization;
  • You have a good command of Dutch and English. Do you speak other languages? Fantastic!
  • You have an affinity with the themes of migration and culture.

What does Fenix offer you?

  • A multifaceted position in a new art museum with international ambitions;
  • A dynamic and inspiring workplace;
  • A salary of €3,800 - €4,250 gross per month (based on 40 hours), depending on experience;
  • Good secondary employment conditions, including pension scheme and travel allowance;
  • Training and development opportunities;
  • A healthy, vegetarian lunch at the office;
  • An extra day off for personal or cultural celebration;
  • Unlimited access to professional guidance and mental support via OpenUp.
