Srefidensi: Brasadag
A festival celebrating 50 years of Suriname’s independence
Brasadag (formerly known as Brasa Dei) takes over Fenix on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 November. With a weekend full of live performances, food, and culture, there’s plenty to see, taste, and experience - whether you’re familiar with Suriname or discovering it for the first time.

Brasa
Brasa means “hug” in both Sranan Tongo and Papiamentu. The word carries deep symbolic meaning. Brasadag is both a literal and figurative embrace of Surinamese culture, community, and diversity.
During Brasadag, you can enjoy Surinamese and Caribbean dishes, listen to live performances, and explore market stalls filled with Surinamese crafts, food, and goods.
