Thu Hương (Autumn Scent) is a moving tribute to mothers and to the strength of femininity. Inspired by Vietnamese traditions and the Mother Goddess belief, Đạo Mẫu, familiar gestures flow into contemporary dance. The performance speaks about maternal love, memory, and life between two cultures, where connection and heritage form a lasting source of strength.

At Fenix, where stories of migration and identity collide, Autumn Scent reflects how memory, maternal love, and cultural roots can offer grounding between different worlds.

During the public rehearsal on Plein, Tú Hoàng and the two dancers prepare for the performance of the duet. You can watch how movement emerges, how choices are made, and how the duet gradually comes to life.

Programme

3:45–4:05 pm: Public rehearsal
4:05–4:20 pm: Break
4:20–4:45 pm: Duet Autumn Scent by Tuan Tran and Isabel Nguyen Dao
4:45–5:00 pm: Q&A with maker Tú Hoàng

Both the public rehearsal and the duet are free to attend.

In the evening at 8:30 pm, the performance NEXT | The Error of Being will be shown at Plein. Tickets for this performance are available here.

In Tú Hoàng’s compelling Autumn Scent, the ambiguous dynamic between the two dancers is intriguing.

About Conny Janssen Danst

Conny Janssen Danst has been one of the leading contemporary dance companies in the Netherlands since 1992. Based in Rotterdam, the company is widely known for the strong physical and theatrical presence of its dancers and the surprising diversity of its productions, in which pure dance is coloured by a human touch. Because in a world that is becoming increasingly hard and inhumane, there must be space for personal stories.

In addition, HUIS Conny Janssen Danst, the company’s home base in Katendrecht, serves as a breeding ground for emerging talent. Both young dancers and choreographers are given the opportunity to develop within the company’s professional environment. In this way, the company acts as an important ambassador for contemporary dance.
