About Fenix

Atterdam’s new museum about migration. Artists, photographers, chefs, and other creative makers share stories here that cross borders – about love and farewell, coming home and feeling at home, identity and the search for happiness. In this historic place of departure and arrival, we show that migration is timeless and deeply personal.

About the role

Fenix opened in May 2025 and has already received strong interest from companies, brands, and organisations eager to host events in this iconic building overlooking the Maas. With our first corporate events completed, we’re looking for a Manager Sales and Events to further develop and professionalise our commercial activities. You will position Fenix as a high-quality event venue for organisations that value social impact, quality, and meaningful experiences.

In this role, you’ll develop a commercial strategy for business events and B2B tourism, build a client base, and lay the foundation for sustainable revenue growth. The main focus will be on corporate events, while also taking the first steps toward international tour operators and cruise companies.

You combine strategy with hands-on execution, from positioning and pricing models to relationship management, proposals, and event coordination.

The Manager Sales and Events reports directly to the Managing Director. You will initially collaborate with freelance event managers for event delivery, with the potential to expand the team as results grow.

What you'll do

  • Develop and implement the commercial strategy for business events and B2B tourism;
  • Position Fenix as a unique and high-end event venue with fitting propositions, pricing, and partnerships;
  • Build lasting relationships with companies, brands, cruise lines, and tour operators;
  • Oversee event sales and delivery in collaboration with internal teams and our hospitality partner;
  • Ensure consistent commercial positioning in coordination with the Marketing and Communications team;
  • Monitor revenue goals, analyse results, and translate insights into improvements and reports;
  • Supervise freelance event managers for larger events.

Who you are

  • A team player and connector with a warm personality;
  • Flexible and comfortable in a growing organisation;
  • At least 5 years of experience in sales, event management or hospitality, preferably in the cultural, tourism, or corporate sector;
  • Strong communicator who builds relationships easily, convinces others, and closes deals;
  • Structured and goal-oriented, with an eye for quality;
  • Entrepreneurial and results-driven; you thrive on achieving growth;
  • Capable of turning strategy into practical execution;
  • Fluent in Dutch and English. Do you speak other languages too? Fantastic!;
  • Affinity with the themes of migration and culture.

What Fenix offers

  • The chance to build and shape education at Fenix;
  • A meaningful role in an international, cultural, and social environment;
  • An inspiring team working on programmes with impact;
  • Salary between €5.000 and €5.700 gross per month (based on 40 hours), depending on experience;
  • Good secondary benefits, including pension and travel allowance;
  • Training and development opportunities;
  • A healthy vegetarian lunch at the office;
  • An extra day off for a personal or cultural celebration;
  • Unlimited access to professional mental-wellbeing support via OpenUp.

Fenix is building a team that reflects Rotterdam’s cultural diversity. Our vacancies are open to everyone—including those with less experience in the cultural sector who bring strong motivation.
