Ons gaan allemaal
Language, image and performance merge in celebration of Ons gaan allemaal, the new poetry collection by Benzokarim.
Wander through a video and visual installation by Mourah, be moved by performances from Motel Poëzie featuring three of Benzokarim’s favourite poets – Daniëlle Zawadi, Moze Naél and Jorgen Unom Gario. Erik Jan Harmens interviews Benzokarim on stage – listen in on an open conversation about the creative process.
This event will be held in Dutch. This presentation is a collaboration between Benzokarim, Het Veerhuis and Fenix.
About Ons gaan allemaal
Benzokarim finds himself at a point in life where everything still seems to be waiting for resolution. Major events are yet to find their place — the death of his mother, shifting family ties, the environment he grew up in, and the loneliness that came with it. As he navigates this process, Benzokarim moves through different worlds — Rotterdam, South Africa and Egypt — and a new language begins to emerge: a blend of Dutch, Arabic, Afrikaans and English. The result is a collection brimming with vitality, one that speaks directly to the heart.
Ons gaan allemaal is published by Thomas Rap.
